Over the years I have had the privilege of being an Executive Director /CEO to two wonderful organizations. The first was leading a Foundation to help support senior housing for different levels of care and the second was as both Executive Director/CEO to senior housing and their Foundation. I can tell you that no matter your leadership role, we all need to surround ourselves with experts that help us make good decisions that leads the organization down the right path.
Speaking of the ‘right path’, I believe as leaders, we get caught up in trying to be right all the time. Mark Twain is quoted as saying; “Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest”.
The difference between being right and doing the right think are chasms apart. Often, leaders are more concerned with being right without seeking other options and opinions. I know that in my experience I always surrounded myself with people that knew more than I did such as corporate lawyers, certified public accountants, human relation managers, community leaders, insurance specialists, and the list goes on. In each situation, we formed lasting relationships filled with trust and respect while delivering the task at hand.
In each case, I sought out a group of experts that would shed light on a topic that I was not well versed in or had experienced previously. By reaching out to other professionals, it made my decision-making more complete and invited strategic growth for the organizations that led us to be more accurate, resourceful, and adaptable to changing environments within that industry.
During these unique times, Divine Development and Leadership Group would be honored to be added to your list of experts, as you review, observe, and implement new opportunities and strategies into the future.
